Hoover Precision Products makes plans for Clean Room Expansion

In 2003 Hoover Precision Products L.L.C. embarked in a new direction to expand our product offering and capabilities from precision balls of various plastics, metals and ceramics, to clean room injection molding of medical components. Starting from the ground up so to speak, a new Class 8 clean room (formally Class 100,000) of 2000 sq. ft. was constructed within the existing building. The startup began with partnering with an existing customer with two machines running 24/7. A third machine with specialized part handling has since been added, which has consumed most of the available space.

Plans are being finalized to expand the current building by 13,200 sq. ft. with a little over 8,000 sq. ft. going to a new Clean Room. Two injection molders will be added to improve reaction times to customer requests, and more will be added as capacity is utilized. The balance of the space will be used for warehousing raw materials and finished product staged for shipment.

While still early in the planning stages, the initial plans are to start construction in early summer of 2012 with completion near the beginning of 2013.

Hoover will be poised to work with current and new customers using their existing molds or assisting with development of new molds for specific applications.

Hoover has a long track record of providing “medical beads” used in diagnostic testing and manufactures over 450 million beads a year for this market. Automated systems for 100% inspection of ball characteristics were developed to maintain cost and product quality.
